Preparation Methods
EASY METHOD
I wanted to share a simple way to extract syrup from fruits and make them easier to chew.
Wash the fruits thoroughly. Pour hot drinking water over them—just enough to reach the same level as the fruits—and cover the container. By morning, the fruits will be soft. You can remove them and eat them gradually (store them in the fridge). Pour the syrup into a bottle and take it little by little.
You can take the syrup with smoothies, especially watermelon smoothies.
If you prefer, you can also boil the fruits.
After soaking for a few hours, overnight, or after boiling, the fruits become softer. Break them open, remove the seeds, put the flesh in your mouth to chew and suck out the juice, then discard the fiber.
LONGER METHOD
First, pick about five fruits.
Wash them thoroughly in a bowl.
Place the clean fruits into a small pot.
Add a little drinkable water—just enough to cover the fruits—and boil.
Once it starts boiling, continue boiling for another 10–15 minutes, stirring frequently with a spoon. The water will begin to thicken and become slimy, similar to okra. Keep stirring until it reaches a slightly thick consistency, then remove from heat.
Drink the liquid.
Take the fruits out and inspect them to ensure they’re clean. Remove the seeds and chew the flesh the way you would chew sugarcane.
The liquid should look brownish or honey-like and has a naturally sweet taste.
If you don’t want to chew the fruit, simply boil it until the liquid thickens—the juice is the main thing you’re extracting.
When the mixture thickens, you can also open the fruits and suck on them directly. Not everyone likes chewing the fruit, but chewing it is more beneficial.
To preserve what’s left, store both the fruits and the juice in a covered container in the refrigerator.
